Final Stats

WENHAM, MA - Endicott junior forward Jennifer Rheaume (Blackstone, Mass.) netted two goals to help the Gulls jump out to a three-goal cushion and hold on for a 4-3 victory over Commonwealth Coast Conference rival Gordon College Saturday afternoon at Gordon College.

Sophomore forward Mollie Sweeney (South Hamilton, Mass.) tallied two goals for the Fighting Scots, who could not erase a 4-1 deficit at Brigham Athletic Complex.

For a better part of the first half, the Fighting Scots (1-3, 0-1 CCC) controlled the game as they persistently attacked the net earning eight penalty-corners but could not score on senior goaltender Erin Curry (Hampstead, N.H.) and the Gulls (4-2, 1-0 CCC). Curry finished with six saves to earn the victory.

EC senior forward Lindsay Fallon (Southampton, N.Y.) opened the socring with a nifty individual effort, racing past the Gordon defense for a breakaway tally. The Gulls added another goal with 6:18 to play in the first half when Rheaume notched the first of her two goals on the afternoon.

Less than seven minutes into the second half, the Gulls tacked on another goal by junior back Ashley Meunier (Hartland, Vt.) to take a seemingly insurmountable 3-0 lead with 28:25 remaining in regulation.

The Scots would not go down without a fight, however, and got on the board just two minutes later on Sweeney's first goal. senior forward Whitney Plaster (Wilmington, Del.) recorded the assist that cut the Gulls lead to 3-1.

With 17:59 showing on the clock, the Gulls stretched the cushion back to three goals as Rheaume scored for the second time in the game. But Sweeney struck again, this time assisted by sophomore midfielder Sarah Orlando (Lafayette Hill, Pa.) to make it a 4-2 game with 7:15 to play.

The Fighting Scots continued their attach and broke through again when senior midfielder Nichole Hunt (Plymouth, Mass.) broke away from the defense to make it a 4-3 game with just 2:42 to play. Despite the hosts' pressure, EC kept the ball out of its own net for the final minutes of play and held on for a 4-3 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) victory.
