Men’s Ice Hockey Opens 2013 Ranked Seventh in Northeast

BEVERLY, Mass. – With a record of 2-1 in December, Endicott's club ice hockey team has remained as the #7 team in the Northeast, according to the third poll of the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA).

The Gulls (9-6-1), who were also ranked seventh in the second of five rankings this season, continue to be in line for a spot in the Northeast Regional tournament. The top ten teams will have a chance to earn qualification the National Championship, this year in St. Louis, Missouri.

Endicott upended previous #1 University of New Hampshire 8-7 to kick off the month of December, and also collected a win over Boston University before falling by a goal at Boston College.

The UNH Huskies dropped from first to fourth in the region, though they did receive one first place vote. Marist University took over the top spot, earning nine of the eleven first place votes available, while the last one went to Northeastern University, who slides into the second spot in the region.

The Gulls are trying to make their third ever appearance in the ACHA Northeast Regional tournament. After their first showing in 2007, Endicott returned to the tournament last year and are now trying for back to back trips. The Siena Saints, currently 10th in the region, ended Endicott's season in the Regionals in Danbury, Conn. a year ago.

Although they will not play again until February 2nd against Boston University, three important games remain this season for the Gulls. The biggest test will come on February 3rd at Northeastern, before the Blue and Green end their regular season against Merrimack on February 9th.
