Gulls Topple #1 UNH in Weekend Tilt

BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott men's ice hockey team ran their win streak to 6 games with a huge victory on Saturday evening, topping the University of New Hampshire 8-7 on Saturday night at Pingree School. UNH was ranked #1 in New England in the most recent American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) regional rankings, while Endicott is ranked #7 in the region.

The Gulls jumped out to a 3-0 lead, then saw the teams exchange runs of five goals apiece. Leading 8-5, Endicott held off a UNH flurry that included two goals in the last minute of play.

Junior Cameron MacLeod (Hampton Falls, N.H.) scored four times and added two assists for Endicott, getting the scoring started with 7:30 minutes remaining in the first period. Kevin Butler (Natick, Mass.) and Tad Gold (Martha's Vineyard, Mass.) added to Endicott's lead before UNH pulled one goal back with fifty seconds to play before the first intermission.

The UNH goal was the first of five straight for the Wildcats, who controlled the second period and took a 5-3 lead. As UNH had in the first, Endicott scored the final goal of the second period, as MacLeod cut the deficit to one goal at 5-4.
