Gulls Score Two Comeback Wins in Club Hockey Action

BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott's club ice hockey team registered come-from-behind victories in each of their games this past weekend, pushing their win streak to five games and their overall record to 7-5-1.

The Gulls erased a 2-0 deficit on the road on Friday night and scored twice in the second period and once in the third to defeat Bryant University 3-2. On Saturday at home, Endicott skated with Northeastern, coming back from one-goal deficits four times before knocking in an overtime winner for a 5-4 victory.

Senior Rob DiNicola (Wolcott, Conn.) scored the second and third goals for Endicott against Bryant, with the game-winner coming just under two minutes into the third period.  The Bulldogs netted twice in the first period, but a marker by Travis Dion (Saco, Maine) at 13:50 into the second pulled Endicott back to within one.

DiNicola got his first score with just over a minute left in the middle period, taking an assist from junior Tad Gold (Martha's Vineyard, Mass.).

It was Chris Murphy (Holden, Mass.) scoring the game-winner a night later, tallying at 2:06 of the overtime period after the teams had traded goals four times earlier in the game.

Northeastern took the lead with :03 remaining in the first period, but goals by Ryan Pratt (Waltham, Mass.) and Cameron MacLeod (Hampton Falls, N.H.) helped restore order and the teams went into the second break tied at 2.

Both teams netted twice in the final frame, with sophomore Jake Rand (Winthrop, Mass.) answering the first Northeastern goal and Pratt grabbing his second goal of the game to tie the affair with just :29 seconds left in regulation.

Gold had three assists in the game, while Clark Dumart (Shrewsbury, Mass.) had the helper on the all-important game-winning goal.

Sophomore goalie Sam Cohen (Fairfax, Va.) made 31 stops in the victory on Saturday for Endicott.

The Gulls will take the Thanksgiving break off and be back on the ice at home on December 1st when they host the University of New Hampshire. All home games are at Pingree School in South Hamilton at 7:30 pm.
