Men’s Ice Hockey Closes First Half of Season with Weekend Split

BOSTON, Mass. – The Endicott men's ice hockey team, ranked #7 in New England, finished the 2012 portion of their season this weekend by splitting a pair of road games against Boston University and Boston College.

The Gulls defeated the Terriers 7-3 on Friday night to win their seventh consecutive game before falling at the Eagles Saturday evening by a slim 4-3 margin.

After trading goals twice in the first period and then again in the second, Endicott scored four unanswered goals in the third period in their Friday victory over BU. Clark Dumart (Shrewsbury, Mass.)and Chris Murphy (Holden, Mass.) each scored twice for the Gulls, who also got goals from Ryan Pratt (Waltham, Mass.), Cameron MacLeod (Hampton Falls, N.H.) and Chris Lane (Holden, Mass.).

Travis Dion (Saco, Maine) had two assists in the winning effort, as did senior defenseman Shaun McKennedy (Lowell, Mass.).

Pratt gave the Gulls the lead halfway through the first period Saturday against Boston College, but the Eagles answered through a Keith Nicholson goal just three minutes later. Junior Tad Gold (Martha's Vineyard, Mass.) restored the Gull's one-goal lead at 6:51, but this time it took less than two minutes for BC to respond and the teams went to the first break tied at two.

Endicott's Corey Goldman (Framingham, Mass.) scored the only goal of the second period and the Gulls were back up 3-2, but BC netted twice in the final frame, with the game-winner coming on Nicholson's second goal of the day at 10:23.

Nicholson also had an assist for BC, while Pratt, MacLeod, Dumart and Adam Rayho (Succasuna, N.J.) had the helpers for the Blue and Green.

The Gulls (9-6-1) will have another crack at Boston University in their next game, but will have to wait for February 2nd. The Terriers will visit South Hamilton, Mass. that day for a 7:30 pm start.
