Club Hockey Splits Weekend Games

BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott's club men's hockey team split a pair of games this weekend, losing at home to Boston College on Saturday night before picking up a road win Sunday at Keene State.

The Gulls fell to the Eagles 3-2 in a tight contest at Pingree School, which ended a four game home-stand and then used seven straight goals to come from behind and beat the Owls of Keene State 7-2.

Clark Dumart (Shrewsbury, Mass.) scored twice on Sunday to help the Gulls undo a 2-0 deficit after Keene scored a goal in the first and the opening score in the second period. Junior Chris Lane (Holden, Mass.) pulled the Gulls back to a 2-1 deficit at 9:07 of the second and Dumart tied it with just over three minutes to play on an assist by Tad Gold (Martha's Vineyard, Mass.).

The Gulls took the lead on the eventual game-winner by Ed Estey  (Beverly, Mass.), then Dumart's second goal of the game opened the third period scoring and gave Endicott a two-goal lead.

Endicott blew the game open with the help of junior Kevin Butler (Natick, Mass.), who added a goal to go with two assists in the third period.

Junior Blaine Thibodeau (Peabody, Mass.) made 32 stops in the victory and kept a  shutout for the final half hour of the game.

Endicott played back and forth hockey with the Eagles on Saturday night, restoring order in the second period on a Chris Murphy (Holden, Mass.) goal after Boston College had tallied the only goal of the first period.

Endicott tied the game again in the third at 2-2 thanks to Travis Dion (Saco, Maine), but the Eagles got the final goal of the night with 12:39 to play to emerge with the 3-2 victory.

Sophomore Sam Cohen (Fairfax, Va.) got the start in net, making 18 stops and allowing one goal in each period.

The Gulls will continue their road trip this weekend when they play at Central Connecticut State on Saturday and at Merrimack on Sunday.
