Endicott Takes Two From Suffolk, 3-2 & 5-2

BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott baseball team swept Suffolk, 3-2 and 5-2, in conference action on Saturday evening at East Boston Memorial Park.

GAME ONE: Endicott 3, Suffolk 2

WP: Michael Kozlowski (Cheshire, Conn.) — 6 IP, 9 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 4 SO
LP: Parker Browne (Shrewsbury, Mass.) — 4 2/3 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 5 BB, 2 SO
SV: Nicholas Cannata (Marlborough, Conn.) — 1 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 0 SO

Joseph Millar's (Lake Hopatcong, N.J.) RBI double in the top of the seventh proved to be the difference as the Gulls fended off a Suffolk rally in the bottom half of the same frame to come away with the win.

Millar was also responsible for tying up the contest with a sacrifice fly to right field in the fifth before Kyle Grabowski (Westfield, Mass.) made it 2-1 when he was struck by a pitch with the bases loaded.

GAME TWO: Endicott 5, Suffolk 2

WP: Rian Schwede (Whitman, Mass.) — 5 2/3 IP, 2 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 5 SO
LP: Michael Muscarella (Melrose, Mass.) — 4 2/3 IP, 6 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 3 BB, 1 SO
SV: Max Tarlin (Sharon, Mass.) — 3 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 5 SO

Tied 1-1 in the fifth inning, the Gulls responded with a four-run frame and rode that momentum the rest of the way to close out the sweep.

Liam Crovo (Melrose, Mass.) broke the tie with an RBI single through the right side, while a balk and a Justin Wardwell (Westport, Mass.) two-run single later in the frame accounted for the scoring.

From there, Tarlin eventually got the ball in the seventh inning and cruised to a three-inning save, which included striking out the side in the eighth.

Meanwhile, Schwede earned his first victory of the season highlighted by a season-high five strikeouts.
