Baseball Splits With Gordon On Saturday

Baseball Splits With Gordon On Saturday

WENHAM, Mass. – The Endicott baseball team split a pair of conference games versus crosstown rival Gordon College on Saturday evening at J. Tec White Field. Endicott dropped the first game, 5-2, but bounced back with authority in game two, 24-5.

GAME ONE: Gordon, 5 Endicott 2

WP: Joe Pedulla (Monroe Township, N.J.) – 7 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 5 BB, 7 K
LP: Rian Schwede (Whitman, Mass.) – 5 1/3 IP, 6 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 1 BB, 4 K
SV: None

After taking a 1-0 lead in the second inning, Gordon answered the Gulls' comeback attempts in the fifth and sixth innings with back-to-back two-run frames to take game one of the doubleheader.

Caleb Shpur (East Canaan, Conn.) and Vincent Walker (Burtonsville, Md.) drove in runs in the fifth (groundout, scored Walker) and sixth (single through the left side) innings, respectively.

GAME TWO: Endicott 24, Gordon 5

WP: Ian Parent (Williston, Vt.) – 5 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 5 K
LP: Mark Gadaleta (Chappaqua, N.Y.) – 2 1/3 IP, 4 H, 6 R, 5 ER, 4 BB, 0 K
SV: None

Endicott wasted little time flipping the script in game two as the Gulls surged out to an 8-0 advantage after three innings and never looked back.

The Blue and Green then forced the mercy rule (10 runs after seven) later on in the contest by producing a 12-run seventh inning to put the punctuate mark on the big win.

Jake Nardone (Wakefield, Mass.) highlighted the nightcap going 5-for-6 with three runs scored and career-high six RBI (tied sixth-most in program history).

All told, the 12-run seventh inning for the Gulls featured five bases loaded walks, two runs that scored on wild pitches, one hit-by-pitch with the bases juiced, a two-run single, and a two-run double.

  • Endicott's 24 runs in game two are tied for second all-time (Keene State, 3/16/14).
  • Despite today's split, the Gulls lead the all-time series against Gordon, 38-12.
