Women’s Tennis Earns Third Straight ITA All-Academic Team Award

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott women's tennis team recently claimed its third straight Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team award for its efforts in the classroom during the 2015-16 academic year.

Additionally, the women's tennis program also saw Margot Andreasen (Portland, Maine), Alexandra Barmore (Southington, Conn.), Reilly Fitzgibbons (Killingworth, Conn.), Gillian Freter (Scituate, Mass.), Lauren Rahr (Waterford, Conn.), Mackenzie Rhodes (Rye, N.H.), and Jamie Zompa (Marlborough, Mass.) earn ITA Scholar-Athlete recognition. Zompa highlights the group with her third straight ITA Scholar-Athlete award, while everyone else in the group collected their first career ITA academic accolade, respectively.

The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any member program that has a cumulative team grade point average (GPA) of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). For the 2015-16 academic year, the Endicott women's tennis program posted a team GPA of 3.53.

Meanwhile, to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a student-athlete must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman thorough senior year).

In 2015-16, the women's tennis program captured its fifth straight Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) championship and also made its fifth straight NCAA Tournament appearance. During its current five-year championship run, Endicott is 78-24 overall and sports a .765 winning percentage.
