Bergstein Earns CCC Women's Tennis Player of the Week Honors

CCC WEEKLY RELEASE

SPRINGFIELD, Mass.- Sophomore Maxine Bergstein (Hingham, Mass.) brought home Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Player of the Week honors following a 2-0 record in matches against Bridgewater St. and CCC foe Roger Williams.

Bergstein picked up a pair of key victories in Endicott's 5-4 win over Roger Williams last Saturday to move the Gulls CCC regular season winning streak to 12 straight matches.

In doubles, Bergstein and Mackenzie Rhodes (Rye, N.H.) edged out Lauren Schmidt and Julia Akerman in a near hour and a half match by a 9-8 (7-3) score. Bergstein followed up her doubles victory with a comeback win over Gabrielle Riley at No. 6 singles by a 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 score. That win at No. 6 singles gave Endicott a 4-3 lead in the match at the time.

In other action earlier in the week, Bergstein bested Bridgewater State's Alison Scagnelli at No. 5 singles (6-1, 6-1) and also earned an 8-2 victory at No. 1 doubles along side Rhodes to aid the Gulls in the 9-0 victory.

Next up for Bergstein and the Gulls are three straight home matches starting today against Salve Regina. Endicott will also host Curry on Wednesday and Salem State on Friday. Both matches will begin at 3 p.m.
