CCC TOURNAMENT: Endicott, Roger Williams Clash In CCC Title Match

BEVERLY, Mass. – Winners of the last four CCC championships, the first-seeded Endicott women's tennis team will put its current championship winning streak on the line against third-seeded Roger Williams University this Saturday at home at 1 p.m.

HOW THEY GOT HERE: After receiving a bye into the CCC Tournament semifinals with a perfect 8-0 conference record, Endicott downed Nichols, 5-1, on Thursday to advance to its fifth straight CCC title match. Roger Williams picked up a 5-0 victory over No. 6 Salve Regina in the quarterfinals and a 5-1 triumph against No. 2 Gordon in the semis.

PREVIOUS MATCHUP: Endicott edged Roger Williams, 5-4, in Beverly, Mass. on September 12 behind a pair of hard-fought wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, and victories at No. 2, No. 3, and No. 6 singles. As of late, both teams have used slightly different variations of their lineups in comparison from their matchup earlier this season. BOX SCORE | RECAP

PLAYOFF HISTORY: The Gulls are 3-0 in their last three playoff meetings against Roger Williams. The last meeting between the two squads came occurred on October 10, 2013 in the CCC Tournament semifinals. Endicott earned a 5-1 victory over the Hawks in that matchup.

ENDICOTT (11-2, 8-0 CCC) | STATISTICS | SCHEDULE: The Gulls went 8-0 for the second straight season in CCC play behind freshman and CCC Player of the Year Hayley Barnett (Marlboro, N.J.). Endicott also saw freshmen Margot Andreasen (Portland, Maine)Reilly Fitzgibbons (Killingworth, Conn.), and Gillian Freter (Scituate, Mass.), sophomore Maxine Bergstein(Hingham, Mass.), and junior Mackenzie Rhodes (Rye, N.H.) all picked up All-CCC honors as well.

ROGER WILLIAMS (11-2, 6-2 CCC) | STATISTICS | SCHEDULE: The Hawks saw five student-athletes earn All-CCC honors, as Kathryn Hughes (Westford, Mass.), Harley Kaiserman (Setauket, N.Y.), Lauren Schmidt (South Windsor, Conn.), Julia Akerman (Greenwich, Conn.), and Gabrielle Riley (Barnstable, Mass.) were all named to the list. Hughes and Kaiserman highlighted the group with spots on the All-CCC singles first team.
