Women’s Lacrosse Downed By No. 20 Trinity (Conn.), 13-8

BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott women's lacrosse team fell to No. 20 nationally ranked Trinity (Conn.), 13-8, in a non-conference dual on Tuesday evening at Hempstead Stadium.

Emerson Clark (Gloucester, Mass.) and Kiana Napolitano (Revere, Mass.) led the way for Endicott with three goals each. Bailey Sheehan (Pomfret, Conn.) and Clare Wendell (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) rounded out the scoring with a goal apiece.

Lydia Akins (Edina, Minn.) stopped 16 shots in the setback.

Trailing 6-1 at halftime, the Gulls outscored the visiting Bantams, 3-2 to cut the lead to 8-4 heading to the fourth. Trinity would score the first two goals to open up a six-goal advantage.

The Gulls never wavered, scoring the next four goals unanswered, including two from Napolitano and one each from Wendell and Clark, in the span of 2 minutes and 52 minutes to cut the lead down the two with 9:09 to play.

Endicott was unable to get any closer as the Trinity would score the final three goals of the game to emerge victorious 13-8.

 BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • The Bantams lead the all-time series, 6-1.
  • Napolitano recorded her 100th career assist in the game.
  • Clark added a season-high three assists in the loss.
  • Lily Troupe (Newburyport, Mass.) tied a career-high with three caused turnovers.
