Women's Lacrosse Falls To No. 3 Tufts, 19-8

BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott women's lacrosse team fell to No. 3 nationally ranked Tufts, 19-8, in a non-conference tilt at Hempstead Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Kiana Napolitano (Revere, Mass.) and Bailey Sheehan (Pomfret, Conn.) both tallied two goals. 

Emerson Clark (Gloucester, Mass.)Katie Jones (Franklin, Mass.)Mia Smith (Portsmouth, N.H.), and Clare Wendell (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) rounded out the scoring with solo goals.

In goal, Lydia Akins (Edina, Minn.) made 17 saves in over 48 minutes of action while Payton Quirk (Nahant, Mass.) also made one save over the final 11:14. 

The Jumbos opened up a 10-3 lead at the break and midway through the third quarter were in control 14-3. The Gulls held Tufts scoreless over the final 8:20 of the third quarter as a Jones free-position goal and two goals from Napolitano cut the lead to 14-6 headed to the fourth.

In the fourth, Tufts would outscore Endicott 5-2 as they pulled away to secure the 19-8 road victory.

  • Tufts remains undefeated in the all-time series versus Endicott (15-0)
  • The 17 saves for Akins are tied for second most in her career.
  • First save of Quirk's career.
  • Tufts is now 4-0 on the road this season.

Endicott (3-5) opens up conference play when they visit Western New England on Wednesday, March 27 at 4:00 PM. No. 3 Tufts (8-0) visits conference opponent No. 9 on Saturday, March 30 at 3:00 PM.
