Women’s Lacrosse Handles Coast Guard, 15-6

NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Endicott women's lacrosse team defeated Coast Guard, 15-6, on Wednesday night in non-conference action at Cadet Memorial Field.

Kiana Napolitano (Revere, Mass.) paced the Gulls with a game-high six points (5g, 1a).

Emerson Clark (Gloucester, Mass.) also contributed three goals and one assist in the win

Clare Wendell (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.), Grace McAfee (Marmora, N.J.), Bailey Sheehan (Pomfret, Conn.), Abbie Belleville (Salem, Conn.), Maggie Holt (Cumberland Foreside, Maine), Leah Black (Cheshire, Conn.), and Jaira Paine (Granby, Conn.) rounded out the scoring with one tally apiece.

In goal, Lydia Akins (Edina, Minn.) made nine saves to move to 1-2 on the season.

Endicott produced four scoring runs of at least three goals or more to run away with the victory.

Napolitano ripped off three straight tallies over a 3:05 span (5:05-2:00) in the first quarter (4-1 lead) to spark the Gulls' attack.

Following a Coast Guard strike at the 1:20 mark, Endicott answered with four straight goals that spilled into the second quarter to take a commanding 8-2 advantage on the scoreboard.

The Gulls led 8-4 at the break, and used a pair of 3-0 runs in the third (10-5 to 12-5) and fourth (13-6 to 15-6) before all was said and done.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott is 3-0 all-time against Coast Guard.
  • The Gulls have scored 12 or more goals in each victory versus Coast Guard.
  • Matilda Darrah (Dover, N.H.) notched a season-best four caused turnovers.
  • Annabelle Gray (Londonderry, Vt.) won a game-high/career-high five draws.
