BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott women's basketball team dropped a narrow 50-43 contest to the visiting the University of New England Nor'easters in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play Tuesday night inside MacDonald Gymnasium.

A narrow 13-10 lead for the Nor'easters at the end of the first quarter turned into 12-4 run in the second stanza as UNE headed into the locker room with a 22-17 lead.

The Gulls kept the game within reach, getting as close as down 34-33 with 7:57 remaining in the game as freshman guard Kaleigh Putnam (Wallingford, Conn.) hit a three-pointer to cut the deficit to just one and made it a single possession game.

However, a 6-0 run over the next three minutes created all the separation the Nor'easters would need the rest of the way as they preserved their nine-game win streak.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Junior guard Gabriella Coppola (Watertown, Mass.) dished out a game-high five assists to go with five rebounds and her team-leading 11 points for the Gulls.
  • Junior guard Hannah Kiernan (Wenham, Mass.) added 10 points, six rebounds, and two steals for her fifth straight game (13th overall)  scoring in double digits this season.
  • Senior forward Sarah Hood (Burlington, Mass.) grabbed a floor-leading 10 rebounds alongside her seven points, one assist, one steal, and two blocks.
  • Hood now has seven games this season with 10+ rebounds.

FOR THE FOES

  • UNE has won the past five meetings, including a 79-68 victory earlier this season on 12/06/2016 in Biddeford, Maine to complete the regular-season series sweep.
  • The Nor'easters out-rebounded the Gulls, 47-34.
  • Senior center Alicia Brown (Greenland, N.H.) led the way with a game-high 13 points, seven rebounds, game-best four steals, and one block.
  • Junior guard Sam MacDonald (Lebanon, N.H.) joined Brown in double figures to go with six rebounds.
  • Junior forward Olivia Shaw (Saco, Maine) tied Brown for the team lead with seven boards.
