Gulls Erupt For Season-High 71 Points In 71-38 Win At Eastern Nazarene

QUINCY, Mass. — The Endicott women's basketball team erupted for a 71-38 road victory at Eastern Nazarene College in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action Saturday afternoon inside the Lahue Physical Education Center.

The first quarter featured four lead changes and four ties before Endicott was able to convert an 8-0 run to take a 16-10 lead after the first 10 minutes of action and headed into halftime up, 30-20.

The Gulls out-scored Eastern Nazarene, 26-7, in the third quarter for the most points scored in a single quarter by Endicott this season.

Endicott led by as much as 37 with 5:47 to go as the Gulls won their third straight game.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • The Gulls registered a season-high 71 points and recorded a season-high seven blocks.
  • Junior forward Hannah Shaw (Bar Harbor, Maine) paced the Gulls with a game-high 24 points and game-high eight rebounds.
  • Endicott erupted for the most points in the third quarter for the fourth time this season and held an opponent to the second-lowest total in a quarter this season (7 today, 6 against Curry in the third quarter).
  • Sophomore center Emma Tierney (Wolfeboro, N.H.) blocked a career-high three shots.
  • Shaw scored a season-high 24 points and has been the Gulls' leading scorer in five of the team's six games this season.
  • Junior guard Hannah Kiernan (Wenham, Mass.) chipped in 11 points for her fourth game scoring in double digits this season.
  • Sophomore guard Mia Bellinghieri (Miami, Fla.) scored a season-high six points off the bench and grabbed a career-high five rebounds to go with two assists.

FOR THE FOES

  • The Lions have lost two straight after opening the season winning each of their first four games.
  • Eastern Nazarene's largest lead of the game was two points with 8:59 to go in the first quarter.
  • Senior guard BreAnna Fraser (Henderson, Nev.) scored a team-high eight points and added two rebounds.
  • Junior guard Jaysa Cooper (Frisco, Texas.) notched six points and seven boards off the bench.
  • Junior forward Michelle Detwiler (Elkhart, Ind.) finished with seven rebounds and four points.

NOTES

  • Endicott is 20-5 all-time and 8-5 on the road at Eastern Nazarene dating back prior to the 2002 season.
  • The Gulls have won eight of the last nine meetings against the Lions, including four in a row.
  • In the most previous meeting before today, Endicott downed ENC, 59-47, on Jan. 23, 2016 in Quincy, Mass.

Both teams return to action on Tuesday, December 6 with conference clashes as the Gulls (3-3, 2-0 CCC) travel to Biddeford, Maine to battle the University of New England at 5:30 p.m. while Eastern Nazarene (4-2, 0-2 CCC) takes on Wentworth in Quincy, Mass. at 5:30 p.m.
