Gulls Fall, 71-58, To Host Skidmore In The Skidmore Invitational

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — The Endicott women's basketball team fell, 71-58, to host Skidmore College Friday night inside the Williamson Center in non-conference action to open the 40th annual Skidmore College Invitational this weekend.

In a game in which they never trailed, the Thoroughbreds raced out to a fast start, scoring 20+ points in each of the first three quarters.

Skidmore led 42-23 at the break and never looked back even as Endicott out-scored the hosts 35-29 in the second half, including a 21-9 margin in the fourth quarter.

Junior forward Hannah Shaw (Bar Harbor, Maine) led the Gulls with a team-high 10 points.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Shaw led the Gulls in scoring for the second straight game.
  • Senior forward Sarah Hood (Burlington, Mass.) grabbed a tied for game-high nine rebounds to lead the Gulls in rebounds for the second straight game.
  • Freshman guard Emily Pratt (Gardner, Mass.) scored a career-high nine points as she earned her second straight start in her rookie campaign.
  • The Gulls' highest scoring quarter this season has been the fourth, as they had 21 tonight and 19 against MIT in the season opener on Tuesday.
  • Skidmore out-rebounded the Gulls, 45-37, and the Thoroughbreds held a narrow 12-11advantage off the offensive glass.
  • The Gulls registered 13 steals to Skidmore's seven, as junior guard Hannah Kiernan (Wenham, Mass.) recorded a game-high three swipes.

FOR THE FOES

  • Skidmore was up by as much as 27 points with 9:53 remaining in the game.
  • The Thoroughbreds had three student-athletes in double figures, led by junior guard Kelly Donnelly's (Wynantskill, N.Y.) game-high 18 points.
  • Junior forward Maja Stjepanovic (Belgrade, Serbia) and junior guard Ari Fustini (Gales Ferry, Conn.) each added 13 and 12 points, respectively.
  • Donnelly also brought down a team-hig/game-high nine rebounds.

NOTES

  • Endicott is 0-2 in the all-time series versus Skidmore, as the Thoroughbreds won, 45-30, in the only other meeting between the two teams during the 2000-01 season.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (0-2, 0-0 CCC) will take on Keene St. on Saturday, November 19 at 2:00 p.m. as part of the Skidmore Invitational.

Skidmore (1-0, 0-0 LL) will take on No. 1 nationally-ranked Tufts University, the top-ranked team in the Preseason D3hoops.com national rankings, on Saturday, November 19 at 4:00 p.m. in the Skidmore Invitational.
