No. 8 Men’s Volleyball Blanks Nichols, 3-0

BEVERLY, Mass. – The No. 8 nationally ranked Endicott men's volleyball team bested Nichols, 3-0, by scores of 25-16, 25-14, and 25-16 in conference action on Saturday night at MacDonald Gymnasium.

Bryn Lipton (Rockford, Ill.) and Rafa Robert (San Juan, Puerto Rico) tied for the match-high in kills with nine apiece to lead the Gulls. 

Lipton, who hit .667 (9-1-12) for the match, also added four service aces, three digs, and two block assists in the win, while Robert hit a blistering .818 (9-0-11).

Endicott also received five kills from Ian Smith (Elk Grove, Calif.) and Gabe DeBenedetto (Rockford, Ill.) ran the majority of the offense via 15 assists to highlight the rest of the attack.

Tonight's match only featured nine tied scores and four lead changes (1st set 0-0 | 2nd set 6-3 | 3rd set 3-1).

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • The Gulls are 5-0 all-time against Nichols.
  • Endicott picked up its first home victory of the season (1-1).
  • Justin Kegebein (Liverpool, N.Y.) went a perfect 18-for-18 on serve-receive.
  • Eight of Kegebein's 18 receptions led to kills (.429).
  • As a team, Endicott hit a season-high .446 (37K-8E-65TA) in tonight's match.

WHAT'S NEXT

No. 8 Endicott (2-2, 2-0 NECC) hosts Eastern Nazarene for a conference doubleheader on Wednesday, March 24 at 6/8 PM. Nichols (0-4, 0-4 NECC) welcomes Northern Vermont-Johnson to its campus next Wednesday at 7 PM.
