NECC CHAMPIONSHIP: No. 1 Endicott Sweeps No. 2 Elms To Capture League Crown

BEVERLY, Mass. – The first-seeded Endicott men's volleyball team defeated second-seeded Elms, 3-0, by scores of 25-22, 25-17, and 25-17 in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Championship on Saturday evening to capture its seventh title in program history.

Gabe Felicetti (Charlestown, R.I.) guided the Gulls offensively via a match-high 10 kills (.467) to go along with three service aces, three digs, and four block assists. For his efforts in both matches this week, Felicetti was named the NECC Tournament Most Valuable Player (MVP).

Joining Felicetti on the NECC All-Tournament Team were Erich Roman (Glastonbury, Conn.) and Ian Smith (Elk Grove, Calif.). Both were pivotal to today's win as the duo notched eight and six kills, respectively.

Meanwhile, Gavin Emenaker (Newton, Mass.) ran the majority of the attack behind a match-high 24 assists (.471).

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott is 4-1 all-time against Elms in the NECC Championship (2021: W, 3-0 | 2019: W, 3-1 | 2018: L, 3-0 | 2017: W, 3-0 | 2013: W, 3-0).
  • The Gulls also hold a 35-5 advantage over the Blazers in the all-time series (regular season/postseason).
  • Today's match featured 13 ties (8-3-2) and only four lead changes (4-0-0).
  • Smith's stat line also included a perfect 16-for-16 showing on serve-receive, four digs, and two service aces.

WHAT'S NEXT

No. 11 nationally ranked Endicott (9-3) awaits the announcement of its NCAA Tournament seeding on Monday, April 12. The selection show will be broadcasted on NCAA.com at 10 AM (EST). The 2021 championship will take place April 21-24 at the Salem Civic Center in Salem, Virginia.

Elms sees its 2021 season come to a close at 4-2 overall.
