No. 1 Springfield Sweeps No. 10 Endicott, 3-0

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – In the season opener for both squads, No. 1 nationally ranked Springfield bested No. 10 Endicott, 3-0, by scores of 25-20, 25-20, and 25-23 on Saturday afternoon at Blake Arena.

Bryn Lipton (Rockford, Ill.) guided the Gulls offensively with six kills, while Rafa Robert (San Juan, Puerto Rico), Gabe Felicetti (Charlestown, R.I.), and Nikolas Kasprzak (Windham, N.H.) notched five kills apiece.

Gabe DeBenedetto (Rockford, Ill.) also facilitated the offense with 19 assists (.306, 19-62) to go along with a team-high (tied) four digs.

Today's match featured 17 ties and six lead changes before all was said and done.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Springfield has won its last two season openers.
  • Lipton went a perfect 11-for-11 on serve-receive, six of which led directly to kills (.545).
  • The Pride registered 20 block assists in today's win marking the first time Springfield has had 20 or more block assists since March 6, 2019 (24 vs. MIT).
  • Today's match, which was dubbed the "Molten/Off the Block NCAA DIII National Match of the Week", was the 15th meeting between the two programs in the all-time series.
