No. 1 Springfield Tops No. 10 Endicott, 3-1

BEVERLY, Mass. – The No. 10 nationally ranked Endicott men's volleyball team fell to No. 1 Springfield, 3-1, by scores of 25-14, 24-26, 16-25, and 22-25 on Sunday afternoon at MacDonald Gymnasium.

Gabe Felicetti (Charlestown, R.I.) highlighted the Gulls with nine kills (.381), six service aces, and one block assist.

Endicott also received six kills via Bryn Lipton (Rockford, Ill.) and four kills each from Erich Roman (Glastonbury, Conn.) and Nikolas Kasprzak (Windham, N.H.), respectively.

Meanwhile, Gabe DeBenedetto (Rockford, Ill.) ran the offense behind 20 assists to go along with three digs and two block assists.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Today's match featured 12 tied scores and three lead changes.
  • In their first set victory, the Gulls held Springfield to a match-low -.273 hitting percentage (3K-6E-11TA).
  • Endicott also registered a sideout percentage of .860 (13-for-15) in the first set and saw Felicetti and Ian Smith (Elk Grove, Calif.) combine for eight service aces apiece (four each).
  • The Gulls led 24-23 in set two, but Springfield capitalized on one kill and a pair of Endicott errors to even up the match at 1-1 and rode that momentum the rest of the way.
  • Senior libero Justin Kegebein (Liverpool, N.Y.) was a perfect 20-for-20 on serve-receive.
  • Four of Kegebein's receptions led to kills, while one of his three digs did as well.

No. 10 Endicott (0-2) visits Nichols on Friday, March 19 at 4 PM. No. 1 Springfield (2-0) hosts Northern Vermont-Johnson next Friday at 6 PM.
