Cohen's comeback in #6 singles lifts Endicott into TCCC Semifinals

The \#4 seed Endicott men’s tennis team came from behind to defeat the \#5 seed Gordon 5-4 in the TCCC Quarterfinals on Monday afternoon, sending the Gulls back to the conference semifinals for the first time since the 2009 season.

Endicott dropped two out of three doubles matches to fall behind 2-1 early on, but the Blue and Green won four of six singles match, including a 5-7, 6-4, 6-2 triumph at the \#6 spot for sophomore Jake Cohen (Barrington, R.I.) to close out the match.

Gordon’s duos at the \#1 and \#2 doubles positions bested the Gulls in close matches. Carl Quinion (Westerville, Ohio) and Nate Musser (Madison, Wisc.) won 8-6 at the \#1 spot while Gary Gaudio (Miller Place, N.Y.) and Eric Musser (Lake Grove, N.Y.) handed their Endicott opponents a 9-7 defeat at the \#2 spot.

The Gulls saw the combination of senior Porter Williams (Raleigh, N.C.) and Cohen win 8-4 at \#3 doubles to keep Endicott in the match.

Williams continued to play well at \#1 singles after dropping the first set 6-0, the senior came back to win the next two sets 6-4, 6-2 to get the win. 

Quinion got the Scots a win at \#2 singles by winning 0-6, 6-0, 6-2 and Nate Musser added another win at \#5 singles in straight sets 6-4, 6-4.

Endicott, however, saw sophomore Olivier Joggi (Stoneham, Mass.) and freshman Zach Arpey (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) win the \#3 and \#4 singles matches in straight sets to set up Cohen’s dramatic three-set, match-deciding win.  

The Gulls will next face the winner of the \#1 Nichols Bison and the \#8 Wentworth Leopards in the TCCC semifinals.
