Endicott runs win streak to five with 9-0 win over Salem State

The Endicott men’s tennis team won their fifth straight match with a 9-0 win over regional non-conference rival Salem State University on Thursday afternoon. 

The Blue and Green improved to 5-3 (3-0 TCCC) on the season while Salem State drops to 0-3.

The Gulls started off the day by sweeping all three doubles matches. Devon Locke (St. Croix, Virgin Islands) and Zach Arpey (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) won their \#1 doubles match up with Alex Eisath (Renon, Italy) and Shawn Dowen (Hudson, Mass.) by the score of 8-1. Oli Joggi (Stoneham, Mass.) and Evan Ross (Worcester, Mass.) won 8-5 in the \#2 doubles spot while Porter Williams (Raleigh, N.C.) and Jake Cohen (Barrington, R.I.) took the \#3 doubles match 8-1.

In singles play, Salem State’s Alex Eisath challenged Endicott’s Porter Williams into a superset tiebreaker, but Williams prevailed with a 6-3, 1-6, 10-7 victory at \#1 singles. 

Locke, Joggi, Arpey, Ross and Cohen each won the remainder of the singles matches in straight sets to secure the Endicott win. 

The Gulls will be in action on Saturday, April 2nd at 1:00 pm against TCCC opponent Eastern Nazarene at the Endicott South Campus Courts. Salem State hosts Gordon College on Thursday, April 7th at 3:30 pm on their home courts.
