TCCC honors Zach Arpey as men's tennis Rookie of the Week

Endicott men's tennis freshman standout Zach Arpey (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) was named this week's The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) Rookie of the Week after going 4-0 in singles and 2-2 in doubles play. 

The Gulls traveled down to Hilton Head, South Carolina to compete in a spring tournament and Arpey shined, going 3-0 against his \#4 singles opponents.  Against Dickinson College's Kurt Mendelson, Arpey won 6-4, 3-6, 10-4.  He followed that performance by winning in straight sets over The College of Wooster's Paul Thomas 6-2, 6-2 and Illinois-Springfield's Mike Czarny 6-3, 6-2. 

In \#1 doubles play down in South Carolina, Arpey and teammate Devon Locke (St. Croix, Virgin Islands) lost to Dickson and Illinois-Springfield but edged Wooster opponents Landon Moore and John Schulz 8-6. 

The Blue and Green return to Beverly and in their first match they faced TCCC rivals Regis College, winning 9-0 as as team.  Arpey handled his \#3 singles opponent Sophorn Nop without dropping a set 6-0, 6-0 while once against partnering with Locke at \#1 doubles for the 8-0 sweep over Daniel Berdichevsky and Nop.

Endicott hosts their first home match of the season on Wednesday, March 23rd at 3:30 pm against TCCC opponent Nichols College.
