Field Hockey Wins CCC Home Opener, 2-1, Over RWU Behind Two First Half Goals

BEVERLY, Mass. – Two first half goals and timely defense propelled the Endicott field hockey team past Roger Williams University, 2-1, in the Gulls' Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) home opener Saturday afternoon at North Field.

With the win, Endicott moves to 4-3 overall (2-0 CCC), while Roger Williams drops to 2-5 and 0-2 in conference play.

Freshman midfielder Meghan Stanton (Newburyport, Mass.) celebrated her first career goal (unassisted) off of a rebound in front of the cage in the 19th minute.

Sophomore forward Olivia Larson (Chesire, Conn.) added to the advantage at the 33:27 mark when she took a pass on the left wing from senior midfielder Ashleigh Allen (Glastonbury, Conn.) and flicked it past freshman goalkeeper Mya Lunn (Marion, Mass.) for her second goal of the season, and a 2-0 lead heading into the half.

Roger Williams' sophomore midfielder Juliana Miccile (Upton, Mass.) responded with her first goal of the season off of a rebound as she sent the ball into the back right of the goal in the 41st minute to get the Hawks on the scoreboard.

Senior goalkeeper Rose Bradley (Pottstown, Pa.) and junior goalkeeper Cheka Ventura (Lawrence, Mass.) split the halves and combined to stop nine shots as the Endicott defense worked hard to preserve the win.
