Field Hockey Picked First In 2015 CCC Preseason Poll

2015 CCC Preseason Poll Release

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. ­- The Endicott field hockey team has been voted as the favorite in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Preseason Poll by the league's seven head coaches, as was announced by the Commissioner's Office on Wednesday.

The Gulls received 45 points towards the poll and three first place vote after finishing the 2014 campaign with an 16-5 record overall and a 9-3 record in CCC play. Last season came to an end in the CCC Championship game in a heartbreaking 4-3 double-overtime penalty stroke loss to UNE.

Defending champion UNE was picked to finish second after earning 44 points and three first place votes. Gordon College came in third (31 points) and Salve Regina rounded out the top billing with 28 points and the remaining first place vote to claim fourth.

Claiming 25 points and fifth place on the poll is Roger Williams, followed by Western New England (13 points) and Nichols (10 points) in sixth and seventh respectively.

Endicott begins its season on the home turf against Colby-Sawyer on Wednesday, September 2 at 7 p.m.
