Babson Defeats Endicott, 5-0

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott field hockey team fell to Babson College, 5-0, in non-conference action on Friday evening at North Field.

Babson freshman forward Catherine Gilman (Cohasset, Mass.) paced the visitors with two goals and one assist, while Elise Towers (Cicero, N.Y.), Elizabeth Holmes (Southborough, Mass.), and Ashley Tango (Reading, Mass.) all found the back of the net once.

Gilman netted her second career marker less than a minute into the contest on a feed from Holmes to get the Beavers' offense going early on in the matchup. Both teams then went scoreless until the 33:06 mark when Holmes deposited her first strike of the season into the back of cage for a 2-0 advantage just before the end of the half.

Babson outshot Endicott, 19-1, in the first half and 31-7 total en route to the 5-0 victory.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott senior goalkeeper Rose Bradley (Pottstown, Pa.) made a career-high 14 saves, which included one penalty stroke save, in the loss.
  • Bradley's 14 saves just missed cracking the top-10 list all-time for a single game.
  • Babson held a 10-4 advantage in penalty corners, including a 7-4 margin in the second half.
  • Sophomore back Emylee Wood (Kensington, N.H.) recorded a career-high two defensive saves.
  • Senior Taylor Przybylski (South Windsor, Conn.) registered her first career defensive save at the 19:38 mark of the game.

FOR THE FOES

  • Senior goalkeeper Kayla Costa (Watertown, Mass.) stopped three shots to earn her second shutout of the year.
  • Holmes also dished out a game-high two assists in the contest bumping her into the team lead in that category so far this season.
  • Babson has not given up a goal in its last 144:58 minutes of action dating back to last season's conference tournament semifinal loss to Wellesley.

NOTES

  • The Beavers have now won 13 of their last 16 games when scoring two goals or more dating back to the start of the their 2014 campaign.
  • Babson head coach Julie Ryan became the first coach in program history to reach the 100-win plateau today.
  • The Beavers are now 5-2 all-time against Endicott.

Endicott (1-1) travels to Salem State University on Tuesday, September 8 for a non-conference tilt at a 6 p.m. Babson (2-0) hosts Connecticut College next Tuesday at 7 p.m.
