BEVERLY, Mass. - Current TCCC Rookie of the Week Anna Giannoni (Granby, Conn.) scored twice and junior Megan McBride (Saugus, Mass.) added a pair as well as Endicott shot their way past Western New England, 6-0 in TCC action on Tuesday. The win moves the Gulls to a perfect 6-0 in TCCC play and 12-3 overall while the loss drops the Golden Bears to 1-12 and 1-4 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference.
Giannoni was able to get the scoring started as she took a through ball from Jennifer Beech (Devonshire, Bermuda) and put the ball past the Golden Bears' Lindsey Orszulak (Longmeadow, Mass.). Four minutes later, Giannoni struck again as she corralled her own missed shot and scored for her 16th goal of the season. The Gulls were not done in the first half as McBride got in on the scoring off of a cross from Alexandra Parese (Wilton, Conn.) for a 3-0 halftime lead.
Endicott returned in the second half with more of the same offensive attack as Joanne Reid (Clarksville, Md.) scored an unassisted goal four minutes into the period. The Gulls poured it on with two more goals in the game as McBride scored again 14:02 into the frame and freshman Lauren Atkinson (Southbury, Conn.) scored her first goal of her career to finish off the game at 6-0. For the game, Endicott outshot the Golden Bears 31-2 and had 19 of those shots put on goal.
Endicott senior Chelsea DeFeo (York, Maine) earned her eighth shutout of the season while facing only two shots. WNEC's Lindsey Orszulak was able to make 13 saves in the game in the losing effort.
The Gulls returns to action on Homecoming Weekend this Saturday when they host Nichols College in another TCCC matchup at 1:00 p.m. Western New England will host Smith College on Thursday in non-conference action at 7:00 p.m.
