Oct. 6, 2008

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Endicott College field hockey team was honored with all three of the TCCC conference awards on Monday as announced by TCCC Commissioner Gregg M. Kaye. Senior forward Samantha Bourgeois (Gardner, Mass.) was named Offensive Player of the Week, senior Chelsea DeFeo (York, Maine) was named Defensive Player of the Week, and freshman Anna Giannoni (Granby, Conn.) was honored as Rookie of the Week.

Bourgeois took home her honor for her play against conference foe New England College. Bourgeois was able to score a goal and have an assist in the 3-0 victory over the Pilgrims. The senior was also a crucial part of the defense as she was able to break up a majority of NEC's 15 penalty corners in the game.

Senior net-minder Chelsea DeFeo took home her second Defensive Player of the Week award on the season this week. During the week, DeFeo only allowed two goals over two games while making 14 saves. She was also able to pick up her seventh shutout of the season with the Gulls victory over New England College.

Freshman forward Anna Giannoni was able to earn her second Rookie of the Week award this season. Giannoni had a goal in each game this week for the Gulls as she scored the lone goal for Endicott against MIT and scored the game-winning goal on a penalty stroke in a 3-0 win over New England College.

The Endicott field hockey team enters into play this week with a record of 10-2 and is undefeated in the TCCC with a 3-0 record. The Blue and Green return to action on Tuesday when the Seahawks of Salve Regina come to the Endicott campus for a TCCC matchup at 4:00 p.m.
