DUDLEY, MA - The Endicott College field hockey team dropped a TCCC match-up on Saturday as Nichols College handed the Gulls a 3-0 loss.
The Bison opened the scoring early as freshman Samantha Lacerra (Watertown, MA/Watertown) found the back of the net just 55-seconds into the game, scoring what would prove to be the game winner.
Junior Lauren Perroruto (Windham, NH/Salem) and freshman Sara Bailey (Athol, MA/Athol) added to the scoring making it a 3-0 final. The Bison improve to 9-2 overall and 3-1 in TCCC play while the Gulls fall to 6-3 overall and 1-3 in the conference.
Despite being out-shot 22-10 on the day, sophomore goalie MaryKate Bednarz (Springfield, MA/Cathedral) made 15 saves en route to her sixth shutout of the season. Junior defender Brittany Case (Cambridge, NY/Hoosick Falls Central) chipped in with three defensive saves to help out in the victory.
The Blue and Green got strong play from reigning TCCC Player of the Year Jennifer Rheaume (Blackstone, MA/Blackstone-Millville) as the Gulls poured on 22 shots but failed to find the back of the goal.
Joanne Reid (Clarksville, MD/River Hill), Megan McBride (Saugus, MA/Saugus) and Chelsea LaClair (Middlesex, VT/U-32) also played well for EC but could not help the Gulls from being shutout for the first time this season.
Nichols will next travel to the University of New England on Monday at 7:00 pm. The Bison will try to capture their third straight victory. Endicott will try to get back on the winning track when the Gulls host Regis College at 4:00 pm on Monday.
