No. 1 Baseball Sweeps Hartford, 15-1 & 22-4

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. — The No. 1 nationally ranked Endicott baseball team swept Hartford, 15-1 and 22-4, in a non-conference doubleheader tilt at Fiondella Field on Saturday afternoon.

GAME ONE: Endicott 15, Hartford 1 (7 inn.)

WP (9-0): Jordan Gottesman (Acton, Mass.) — 7 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 12 K
LP (1-5): Colin Blake (Wallingford, Conn.) 5 IP, 9 H, 8 R, 8 ER, 3 BB, 3 K

The Gulls jumped out to a quick 3-0 start through the first two innings of the contest, as Nicolas Notarangelo (Taunton, Mass.) and Dylan Pacheco (Dartmouth, Mass.) each logged RBI-singles to left field.

After the Hawks got a run back in the bottom of the second, Notarangelo busted the game open in the fourth with his three-run double to right center field, giving the Gulls a 6-1 lead.

They picked up two more in the fifth with RBI singles from John Mulready (Peabody, Mass.) and AJ Hamm (Shrewsbury, Mass.), and then ripped the game wipe open with a five-run sixth inning highlighted by RBI base-knocks from Mulready and Joey Frammartino (North Reading, Mass.).

In the seventh, the Blue and Green padded the lead with a solo shot from Danny MacDougall (Taunton, Mass.) down the left field line and a TJ Liponis (Scarborough, Maine) RBI double down the left field line.

The extensive run support paired with Gottesman's complete-game dominance cemented the 15-1 seven inning mercy-rule win for the Gulls.

GAME TWO: Endicott 22, Hartford 4

WP (5-0): Charlie Hale (Brookline, N.H.) — 1.2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 0 K
LP (2-3): Luke Rier (Miami, Fla.) — 3.0 IP, 7 H, 6 R, 5 ER, 2 BB, 0 K

Trailing 3-1 in the second inning, the Gulls quickly regained the lead thanks to a Hamm sac fly and a Pacheco two-run double to the left center field gap.

From there, the Gulls never looked back. A six run fourth inning highlighted by back-to-back tape measure blasts from MacDougall and Brendan O'Neil (Ponte Vedra, Fla.) set the tone for the offensive outburst the Gulls maintained throughout the day.

In the seventh, they posted another seven spot on the scoreboard, this time highlighted by an Elijah Moses (Haverhill, Mass.) RBI triple and a Liponis two-run double.

Matt Pappalardo (Methuen, Mass.) (2 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K) and Brady Stuart (Hudson, Mass.) (1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K) combined to close out the final three frames of the day for the Gulls, locking up another seven inning mercy-rule win.
