BEVERLY, Mass. — Endicott freshman catcher James Benestad (Northborough, Mass.) has been named the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league office earlier today.
Benestad slashed .308 AVG / .438 OBP / .308 SLG in No. 1 Endicott's 4-0 week.
The freshman backstop notched four hits, three runs, a stolen base, and two walks in his four games played.
He guided the Endicott pitching staff to a 1.85 ERA in his 34 innings caught on the week.
Was perfect defensively in a team-high 36 total chances (32 putouts, four assists).
In Endicott's 8-4 victory at Southern Maine, the St. John's Shrewsbury product tallied a team-high three hits in the contest, which also set a new career-high.
Recorded a timely single and run scored amidst Endicott's seven-run inning at No. 15 Eastern Connecticut on Saturday (game one).
This marks Benestad's second career CCC Rookie of the Week honors.
