No. 1 Endicott Downs Tufts, 3-1

BEVERLY, Mass. — The No. 1 nationally ranked Endicott baseball team defeated Tufts in a 3-1 battle at North Field on Tuesday afternoon.

WP (4-0): Charlie Hale (Brookline, N.H.) — 7.1 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 10 K
LP (0-1): Matt Hirsch (Brookline, Mass.) — 4 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, 1 K
SV (3): Kyan Bagshaw (Amherst, N.H.) — 1.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 K

Endicott jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the bottom half of the first after Danny MacDougall (Taunton, Mass.) drilled a double into the left field corner, scoring Nicolas Notarangelo (Taunton, Mass.) from first.

The Jumbos quickly responded in the top of the second with an RBI single through the right side of the infield, past the dive of Dylan Pacheco (Dartmouth, Mass.).

An inning later, Joey Frammartino (North Reading, Mass.) barrelled a ball into center field and drove home MacDougall and Notarangelo to reclaim a 3-1 lead for the Gulls.

That two-run cushion was all Hale needed to thwart the Jumbos' offense the rest of the way. The freshman right-hander was dominant on the hill, earning his fourth win of the season. In the career-best outing, he went 7.1 strong innings and fanned a career-high 10 Jumbos.

Bagshaw relieved him in the eighth and recorded the last five outs consecutively to earn the save and lock down the 21st win of the season for the Blue and Green.
