CCC RELEASE

BEVERLY, Mass. — Endicott baseball senior outfielder Joey Frammartino (North Reading, Mass.) and freshman catcher James Benestad (Northborough, Mass.) have been named the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively.

JOEY FRAMMARTINO | CCC PLAYER OF THE WEEK

In No. 1 Endicott's 5-0 week, Frammartino surged for a slash line of .625  AVG / .739 OBP / .875 SLG.

The senior recorded 10 hits in his 16 at bats (.625), which consisted of eight singles, a double, and a homerun (first-career grand slam). He tallied at least one hit in each of the five games, and is currently riding a 10 game hit streak overall.

He also notched 10 RBI, eight runs scored, and two stolen bases over the five game stretch.

In Endicott's 11-3 conference home victory over WNE on Monday, Frammartino went 1-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored.

He left a major mark in Endicott's 23-2 blowout conference win over Suffolk on Tuesday, as he deposited a grand slam over the right field fence to give the Gulls a 6-0 lead in the third inning. The slam was Endicott's first of the season.

In Wednesday's 10-3 victory, the senior reached base five times without recording an out. He went 3-for-3 with three singles, an RBI, a run scored, and two walks.

In Saturday's doubleheader sweep against conference opponent Curry, Frammartino went 5-for-8 overall. In game one, he reached base twice via a single and a walk. He also scored a run and swiped a steal.

In game two, he set a new career-high with a four-hit afternoon (three singles, double). He scored three runs and also drove in three runs in the Blue and Green's 12-2 seven-inning mercy rule win over the Colonels.

This marks Frammartino's first career CCC Player of the Week award.

JAMES BENESTAD | CCC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Benestad started each of the games behind the plate in No. 1 Endicott's 5-0 week (4-0 CCC).

The freshman backstop slashed .231 / .524 / .385 across the five game stretch, notching three hits (two doubles, single) and four walks. He also recorded five RBI and seven runs scored for the Gulls in the undefeated week, reaching base at least once in every contest.

He guided the Endicott pitching staff to an ERA of 2.63 and a WHIP of 1.10 in its 41.0 total innings of work. He was also perfect defensively from behind the plate, and is yet to commit an error on the season.

In an 11-3 conference victory over WNE on Monday, Benestad reached base twice via a single and a walk in his 1-for-2 afternoon with two runs scored and an RBI.

On Tuesday, he contributed to the Blue and Green's 23-2 conference blowout win of Suffolk with a double, an RBI, and three runs scored.

Against Southern Maine on Wednesday, the Gulls catcher reached base on a walk and drove in a run.

In game one of the doubleheader sweep against Curry on Saturday, Benestad walked and scored a run. In game two, he drove in two with a 2-run double in the fifth and then crossed the plate later in the inning. He also reached on a walk in that contest.
