Harry Oringer ’15 Accepts Head Coaching Position At Saint Anselm

BEVERLY, Mass. — Endicott baseball associate head coach Harry Oringer '15 has resigned from his position with the Gulls to accept the head coaching position at Saint Anselm College, effective Monday, January 1.

"I have very mixed emotions about Harry moving on from Endicott. On one hand, I couldn't be happier for him and I'm extremely proud that he's earned the position as a head baseball coach. On the other hand, it deeply saddens me that I won't be spending time with him and working with him five to six days a week anymore as we've created incredible memories over the past 11-plus years together," said Endicott baseball head coach Bryan Haley.

"I have known Harry since I recruited him as a rising senior in high school back in 2010. After a stellar career as a player and leader here at Endicott, I've had the pleasure of coaching with him for parts of the past seven years. With an incredible work ethic and the mindset of a 'lifelong learner,' Harry turned himself into one of the top coaches in the region, at any level. This achievement pales in comparison to the fact that I simply haven't encountered a better human being in my life. Harry's kindness, thoughtfulness, and empathy, coupled with his ability to communicate, his drive to succeed, and his competitive spirit make him an incredibly positive force as a coach."

Haley continued.

"I have no doubt that Harry will bring the St. A's baseball program to new heights as he develops young men into future leaders. He always has the players' best interests at heart and will work tirelessly to develop his guys on all levels of play and in life," said Haley. "We all love Coach O and we will deeply miss him this spring, but we all wish him nothing but the best moving forward in his new role!"

Oringer had a profound impact on the program's return to championship form, and most recent College World Series appearance, over his seven years on staff (2017-2023),

During that span, Endicott produced a 179-84 (.681) overall record, a 68-22 (.756) mark in conference play, and a pair of Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) championships in 2022 and 2023.

Endicott concluded last spring's campaign ranked No. 5 in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Poll and No. 6 via D3baseball.com.

The Gulls won a program record 45 games en route to making its first-ever appearance in the NCAA Division III College World Series and were ranked as high as No. 4 nationally throughout the season (program record).

Oringer's players-coach mentality, emphasis on hitting strategy, and the introduction of the latest hitting technology (Rapsodo) transformed Endicott's offense.

Statistically, under his guidance, the Gulls have ranked in the top-50 in scoring over the last three seasons, seventh in home runs the past two campaigns, as high as No. 3 nationally in hits (2023), and top-25 in slugging over the last three years.

Oringer was able to accomplish all of the statistical feats mentioned above by connecting individually with student-athletes in numerous cage sessions, holding group meetings about hitting strategies/approaches, and his ability to relate to student-athletes within the program on and off the field.

He also played a key role in Endicott's defense up the middle, as the former two-time All-American second baseman helped the Gulls finish second in fielding percentage nationally in 2022 and 2023 (22nd in 2018).

For his efforts last season, Oringer was named the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) Kevin Burr Award winner

The Kevin Burr Award is presented to an active New England assistant coach who exhibits the integrity and dedication to the game of college baseball that coach Burr demonstrated throughout his career.

"As exciting as it is for my next opportunity moving forward, leaving Endicott is a truly difficult task. Being a graduate of the College, and working here for the past six years, Endicott holds a special place in my heart," said Oringer. The baseball program is supported here at a school that was built off traditions and culture that was brought forth by our alumni and continues with our current student-athletes. As Endicott has continued to grow, the technology, the facilities, and the staff have continued to drive the athletics programs into what it is now."

Oringer continued.

"Aside from the state-of-the-art facilities and resources here at Endicott, it is the people that make it so special. Endicott is filled with selfless people who wake up every day excited to offer the best experience possible for the people in this community. The athletic department, and the College's faculty and staff, as a whole, work among each other with one goal in mind, to provide for the students on this campus. I am forever thankful to Assistant Vice President, Director of Athletics Brian A. Wylie, Ph.D., and head baseball coach Bryan Haley for giving me the opportunity to work at Endicott, and I will forever cherish the relationships I have developed here."

As a student-athlete at Endicott, Oringer was an integral member of two CCC Championship squads (2013-14) and helped guide the Gulls to back-to-back NCAA Tournament Regional Finalist runs.

He also was named a D3Baseball.com Second Team All-American as a junior and received D3Baseball.com Preseason First Team All-America recognition entering his senior year.

Oringer collected four All-Region honors, three CCC All-Conference honors, and was named Endicott's Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year to cap a stellar career at the College.

Oringer currently ranks first all-time in games played (186), at-bats (641), and double plays turned (117), second in assists (541), third in walks (85), fourth in hits (207), fifth in runs scored (146), total bases (290), and chances (895), sixth in RBI (126), tied seventh in stolen bases (46), and eighth in on-base percentage (.434).

Oringer graduated from Endicott in 2015 with a bachelor's degree in physical education with a concentration in exercise science.

Additionally, he was a member of the Phi Epsilon Kappa Exercise Science Honors Fraternity, a member of the Physical Education Club, and earned multiple Dean's List honors.

A national search for his position will begin immediately.
