No. 1 Endicott Shuts Out Colby, 8-0

WATERVILLE, Maine — The No. 1 nationally ranked Endicott baseball team shut out Colby, 8-0, on Sunday afternoon at Colby Baseball Field.

WP (6-0): John Connolly (Attleboro, Mass.) — 9.0 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 8 K
LP (0-3): Joe Sylvester (Hingham, Mass.) — 2.0 IP, 3 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 4 BB, 2 K

The Gulls controlled the game right out the gate, as Joey Frammartino (North Reading, Mass.) crushed a leadoff home run to center field.

They added some insurance runs in the second inning with AJ Hamm's (Shrewsbury, Mass.) first-career round-tripper, a two-run blast down the left-field line, and Nicolas Notarangelo's (Taunton, Mass.) opposite-field two-run double to left field.

Brenden Walsh (Reading, Mass.) then joined in on the offensive onslaught in the fifth, as he punched an RBI single through the left side of the infield to put the Gulls up 6-0.

The Blue and Green notched two more runs via a Robbie Wladkowski (Norwood, Mass.) sixth-inning fielder's choice and a Notarangelo seventh-inning sac fly to left.

Connolly got the nod on the mound for the second straight contest and did not disappoint. He tossed his first-career complete game and limited the Mules to just five base runners over the nine frames while fanning eight.

  • With the win, the Gulls improve to 6-1 in the all-time matchup.
  • Notarangelo recorded a game-high three RBI in the contest. He leads the team and ranks T-4th in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) with 28 RBI this season.
  • Connolly's shutout marks the first complete game shutout for Endicott since Gabe Van Eamon '23 (Lexington, Mass.) on 4/29/23.
  • The right-hander also retired the first 12 Mules he faced in the contest.
