BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott designated hitter Danny MacDougall (Taunton, Mass.) has been named to the 2024 D3baseball.com Preseason All-America Third Team.
MacDougall is the first DH and the fifth student-athlete overall in program history to be selected to a D3baseball.com Preseason All-America squad.
Last season, MacDougall slashed .426/.497/.658 in 49 games played (155 at-bats) for the Gulls.
He compiled 47 runs scored, 66 hits, 19 doubles, one triple, five homers, 32 RBI, 16 walks, and 14 stolen bases.
MacDougall shined in the NCAA Division III College World Series hitting .667/.600/1.000 alongside two runs scored, six hits – including a three-run homer – and eight RBI in two games.
His three-run blast against Baldwin Wallace on the opening day of the tournament (June 2) marked the first home run ever hit by a Gull at the College World Series.
MacDougall was later named to the NCAA Division III National Championship All-Tournament Team at the conclusion of the College World Series, another first in program history.
He also finished the year ranked No. 24 in doubles and No. 60 in batting average among his D3 peers.
MacDougall's single-season program records included being ranked second in doubles, fifth in batting average, ninth in slugging percentage, sixth in on-base percentage, seventh in runs scored, 10th in hits, and ninth in total bases (102).
The designated hitter's secondary stats were eye-popping too, as MacDougall hit .438 with runners on, .586 as a leadoff batter, .426 with runners in scoring position, and .386 with two outs (11 two-out RBI).
This is MacDougall's first career All-America honor. His career major awards include ABCA/Rawlings and D3baseball.com All-Region Second Team accolades along with All-CCC Second Team honors, all occurring in 2023.
