CCC Athletes of the Week Release
BEVERLY, Mass. – For her efforts in the team's 2-2 MIT Invitational that included wins over Babson and Brandeis, freshman libero Mackenzie Kennedy (Andover, Mass.) was named Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Defensive Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week for the week ending September 11.
Earning her first career starts, Kennedy averaged 3.94 digs per set in the four matches, posting double-digit digs in each. She started the tournament by recording 15 in the team's 3-1 setback to regional power Tufts before then setting a new career high with 18 in a 3-1 loss to Bates to go along with three aces. The freshman was instrumental in the team's 2-0 day on Saturday as she again posted 18 digs and three aces in the team's 3-1 win over Babson and 16 digs and three aces in the 3-1 win over Brandeis.
The team returns to action this Wednesday, September 14, when they travel to Boston, Mass. to take on Simmons in non-conference action. The Gulls then travel to New London, Conn. to square off against Coast Guard and Clark on Saturday.
