SALEM, MA - The Endicott College women's volleyball team made quick work of cross-town rival Salem State College on Wednesday, as the Gulls downed the Vikings in three straight games.
Endicott opened play with a dominating, 30-7, game one performance. The Gulls encore was equally impressive, besting the home team, 30-13. Endicott completed the three game sweep with a 30-10 victory, sealing the win, 3-0. In all, the Gulls were able to triple up their North Shore counterparts by a final total of 90-30.
Freshman outside hitter Brittany Phillips (Sudbury, MA/Lincoln Sudbury) had a big night for the Blue and Green, nailing 11 kills on 13 swings. Kim Marschner (Londonderry, NH/Londonderry) paced Endicott as the senior had a well-rounded 10 kills, two aces and seven digs. Sophomore Casey Ward (Monroe, CT/Masuk) notched 33 assists while junior Sarah Richardson (Laconia, NH/Laconia) turned in nine digs. Freshman middle Amy Grigg (Vernon, CT/Rockville) posted nine kills and three blocks in the win.
Salem State was led by Sophomore middle hitter Kristen Agrella (Dracut), who posted seven kills and nine digs. Viking's senior Tsukako Inoue (Aomori, Japan) added seven assists and three kills for SSC.
Endicott returns to action on Saturday as they travel to New London, Connecticut to square-off with Connecticut College and Coast Guard in a tri-match beginning at 1:30 PM.
