BOSTON, MA - The Endicott College women's volleyball team took a pair of TCCC wins over the Wentworth Institute of Technology and Salve Regina University at a tri-match hosted by Wentworth in Boston, MA on Saturday afternoon.
The Gulls opened the morning with a, 3-0, win over Wentworth. The Leopards put up a tough fight in game one, as Endicott narrowly escaped with a 30-24 victory. The Gulls found their groove in games two and three however, as the Blue and Green cruised to 30-13 and 30-18 wins in the final two contests.
Steph Wiese (Higganum, CT/Haddam-Killingworth) had a strong all-around day for the 2006 CCC Champions. Wiese compiled 12 kills, four digs and two blocks in the Endicott victory. Meghan Hall (Santa Cruz, CA/Aptos) was also strong in the win, as she handed out 36 assists and had 10 digs for the Gulls. Casey Ward (Monroe, CT/Masuk) ended the match with six aces, including two service runs to help lead the visitors to the road victory.
In the second match of the day, Endicott squared-off with the Seahawks of Salve Regina University. After falling in a quick, 1-7, hole in game one, the Gulls rallied to a 30-21 game one win. Following their come-from-behind first game victory, Endicott rolled to 30-18 and 30-19 wins to close out SRU, 3-0.
Wiese finished her afternoon with 12 additional kills, three aces and 19 digs. Hayley Janelle (Madbury, NH/Oyster River) played an important role at the Endicott net, notching 14 kills in the three-game win. Meghan Hall raised her tri-match assist total to 73 with 36 more helpers, and Kim Marschner (Londonderry, NH/Londonderry) tallied 12 digs in the win.
Endicott improves to 13-6 overall and 4-0 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference. The Gulls return to action on Tuesday as they travel to Springfield, MA to lock-up with Conference foe, Western New England. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
