CHC TOURNAMENT RELEASE / BRACKET
BEVERLY, Mass. – The second-seeded Endicott women's ice hockey team (18-5-2) will face off against No. 3 seed SUNY Canton (10-13-3) in the Colonial Hockey Conference (CHC) semifinal round on Saturday, March 3 at 4:30 p.m. The semifinal rounds and championship game will all be held at the Morrisville State IcePlex.
Ticket prices for Saturday's game are as follows: students and senior citizens are $2 and adults are $4 (children under 12 are not charged admission).
HOW THEY GOT HERE: Endicott earned a first-round bye as the second seed to advance directly to the semifinals.
SUNY Canton defeated Becker, 2-0, during the quarterfinal round on Saturday, Feb. 24 to advance to the semifinals.
THE MATCHUP/SERIES HISTORY: Endicott and SUNY Canton are meeting for the eighth time in program history and the Gulls lead the series, 7-0. Endicott swept the two previous meetings this season with a 2-1 win on February 2 and a 6-2 victory on February 3.
SCOUTING ENDICOTT: The Gulls enter the weekend leading the conference in goals per game (3.08) and total conference goals (37) after 12 regular season CHC contests. Endicott is second in the league in goals allowed with 15.
The teams will look to several players to generate offense including Jillian Gibbs (Burlington, Vt.) and Jade Meier (Fairbanks, Alaska). Gibbs leads the conference in points (28) and assists (16) and is tied for second in goals (12). Meier is currently tied for second in points (26), third in assists (15), and fourth in goals (11).
Vendela Jonsson (Linkoping, Sweden) has an overall season record of 12-5-1 in net for the Gulls and leads all conference goaltenders in win percentage (.694), is second in GAA (1.52), and third in save percentage (.937).
SCOUTING SUNY CANTON: SUNY Canton enters the weekend after a 2-0 win over Becker in the quarterfinal round. Whitney Bernier (Newport, Vt.) and Tess Adams (Calgary, AB) netted goals during that contest and Brooke Susac (Bowmanville, ON) made 15 saves in net to secure the victory.
Adams also leads the conference in goals with 14 and is tied for second in points (26) and seventh in assists (12).
Susac has an overall record of 9-11-3 in goal for the Roos. She is third in the conference in GAA (1.86) and sixth in save percentage (.928).
WHAT'S AT STAKE
The winner of this contest will move onto the CHC championship game on Sunday, March 4 and will play the winner of the semifinal game between No. 1 Morrisville State and No. 4 Nichols.
