BEVERLY, MA. – Two Endicott women's ice hockey student-athletes were awarded Colonial Hockey Conference (CHC) Player of the Week honors, as announced by the conference office this afternoon. Vendela Jonsson (Linkoping, Sweden) was named Goaltender of the Week and Maggie Layo (Sandwich, Mass.) was named Player of the Week.
Jonsson went 2-0 in net for the Gulls during the week. She registered 34 saves in a 3-1 win over Stevenson on Nov. 25 in the opening round of the 11th Annual Codfish Bowl. Jonsson then recorded a season-high 38 saves during the championship game on Nov. 26 against UMass Boston. Overall, she finished the weekend with an overall save percentage of .973, 72 total saves and was named the tournament MVP. This is her second CHC Goaltender of the Week award so far this season.
Layo registered one goal and one assist for two points throughout the weekend. She assisted on the first goal of the game against Stevenson and netted the game-winner in overtime against UMass Boston to give the Gulls their first Codfish Bowl title.

The Gulls travel to Salve Regina on Saturday, Dec. 2 for a 7 p.m. contest.
