BEVERLY, Mass. – The No. 7/10 nationally-ranked Endicott women's ice hockey team was handed a 5-0 loss by No. 7/8 Middlebury College on Saturday afternoon in Raymond J. Bourque Arena.
The Panthers took a 1-0 lead at the 3:40 mark of the first period on a tally from Elizabeth Wulf (Larchmont, N.Y.).
Middlebury then saw Madie Leidt (Killingworth, Conn.) score the lone goal of the second period with just under three minutes remaining in the frame.
Leidt opened the third period with her second tally of the contest, less than a minute into play. Maddie Winslow (Manchester, Vt.) made the score 4-0 in favor of the Panthers at the 1:58 mark and Katherine Jackson (Portsmouth, R.I.) rounded out the scoring with just under five minutes left in regulation.
Vendela Jonsson (Linkoping, Sweden) made 28 saves in net and shifted to 10-1-1 on the season with the loss.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Madison Huber (Pittsburgh, Pa.), Michaela McNamara (Warwick, R.I.), and Caroline Hughes (Andover, Mass.) led the offense with three shots each.
FOR THE FOES
- Lin Han (Toronto, Ont.) improved to 5-2-0 on the season with the win and recorded 16 saves.
- Haley LaFontaine (Summit, N.J.) and Sidney Portner (Andover, Minn.) each tallied two assists throughout the contest, while Jackson, Clare Tipler (St. Paul, Minn.), and Janka Hlinka (Stratford, Conn.) each had one.
- The Panthers held a 33-16 shot advantage.
WHAT'S NEXT
No. 7/10 Endicott (13-1-1) travels to No. 2/2 Norwich on Wednesday, January 17 at 6:00 p.m for a nonconference matchup. No. 7/8 Middlebury (8-3-1) hosts Bowdoin for a 7:00 p.m. contest on Friday, January 19.
