Gulls Women’s Hockey Part of UNE Rink Opening

BIDDEFORD, Maine – The Endicott women's hockey program was selected as the opponent for last Friday night's exhibition game to celebrate the opening of the new Alfond Forum at the University of New England.

The Gulls, beginning their first season as an independent program, fell to UNE 11-0 but were thrilled to be part of the opening ceremony and to be able to play the first game in such an enthusiastic atmosphere.

Endicott goalies Taylor Witham (Cumberland Maine), Gretchen St.Pierre (Cochester, Vt.)  and Katey O'Hara (Amherst, N.H) were called on to make 50 saves.  Witham and St.Pierre were especially busy, making 43 of the saves.

Freshman playing in their first game for the Gulls were Lauren Masse (Waterville, Maine.), Meagan Hyland (Duxbury, Mass.), Lindsey Sneider (Gorham, Maine) and O'Hara.

The Gulls captains are Jess Bilafur (Concord, Mass.) and Addie Weeks (Harwichport, Mass.), while Mary Beth McMahon (Wilmington Mass.) serves as the Assistant Captain.

Head Coach Paul Munzing and the Gulls are playing with a short roster, as they will be adding several key veterans and exciting newcomers who are currently competing in field hockey and women's soccer postseason runs.

The next game for Endicott will be their home opener against Wellesley College on November 3rd at 6:30 pm. The Gulls play their home games at the Salem State University rink.
