Two Hat Tricks by Massey Leads Women’s Hockey to First Two Wins

BEVERLY, Mass. – With an offensive outpouring of goals, particularly from freshman Lauren Massey (Waterville, Maine), who scored hat tricks in each game, Endicott's women's club ice hockey team won their home opener and a road test this weekend and improved their record to 2-1.

The Gulls defeated Wellesley 5-0 at home on Saturday evening and then travelled to UMass Lowell and grabbed an 8-4 victory at the Tsongas Center.

Against Wellesley, Massey's hat trick was paired with two goals from freshman Lindsey Sneider (Falmouth, Maine), plus a shutout by sophomore goalie Gretchen St. Pierre (Colchester, Vt.).

Assists were registered by captain Jess Bilafer (Concord, Mass.), Samantha Parr (Dedham Mass.), captain Addie Weeks (Harwichport, Mass.) and Kelsey Lutch (Milton, Mass.). The line of Bilafer, Parr and Masse accounted for 7 points, while backliners MaryBeth McMahon (Wilmington, Mass.) and Sara Ankerud (Groton, Mass.) played solid defense.

The Lady Gulls outshot Wellesley 43-15 in recording their 1st win of the season.

Massey picked up where she left off on Sunday, getting the scoring started for Endicott just three minutes and five seconds into the game with Lexi Bird (Lebanon, N.H.) picking up an assist. Just eight seconds later, Masse turned around and fed Bilafer who doubled Endicott's advantage. Bilafer assisted on a goal by Parr to extend the Gull's lead to 3-0 at 6:53 before Bird and Massey hooked up again by before the end of the period.

It was another great start to the second period as Addison Weeks potted a wrist shot from the blue line before UMass Lowell finally got on the board, ending goalie Taylor Witham's (Cumberland, Maine) shutout with 9:07 remaining in the second period.  Parr scored on either side of the second intermission and Massey netted her third goal of the night with 6:34 remaining with an assist from Bilafer.

Endicott will be on the road for their next game, a 2:15 PM matchup with Connecticut on Sunday.
