BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott softball team traveled to Salem State for a nonconference doubleheader and the Gulls picked up two wins by scores of 7-0 and 6-3.
ENDICOTT 7, SALEM STATE 0
The Gulls got on the board in the third innings when Hannah Llewellyn (Danvers, Mass.) scored on a sacrifice fly from Gina DeMilt (Princeton, N.J.).
Endicott added four more runs in the sixth inning to stretch the lead to 5-0 on a triple from Adrianna Favreau (Tewksbury, Mass.) and double from Olivia Odermatt (Cheshire, Conn.).
In the bottom of the seventh, Jamie Hopgood (Warwick, R.I.) got things started with a double before Favreau hit a two-run home run to put the Gulls up 7-0.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Michaela Hamill (Lynn, Mass.) pitched a complete game and allowed only one hit while striking out seven batters.
- Dominique Del Vecchio (Stoneham, Mass.) was credited with the loss for the Vikings (7 IP, 8 H, 7 R, 7 ER, 4 BB, 1 SO, 1 HR).
- Favreau led the Gulls offensively as she went 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs.
- Odermatt, DeMilt, Llewellyn, and Lauren Misiaszek (Londonderry, N.H.) also had RBI throughout the game.
- Luciana Mastromatteo (Peabody, Mass.) had the lone hit for Salem State.
ENDICOTT 6, SALEM STATE 3
Endicott jumped out to the early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning when Favreau hit an RBI double to center field.
The Gulls continued to add to that lead with a run in both the third and fourth innings.
Salem State's Ivy Bonoldi (Medfield, Mass.) cut the deficit to 3-1 with a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth.
Both teams saw a run score in the fifth inning to make it a 4-2 game.
In the sixth inning, Endicott stretched the advantage to 6-2 on doubles from Favreau and Misiaszek.
The Vikings attempted a late rally in the bottom of the seventh but the Gulls only allowed one run to secure the 6-3 win.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Leading the Endicott offense throughout the contest was Favreau who went 3-for-3 at the plate with three RBI and two runs.
- Odermatt, DeMilt, and Misiaszek all were 2-for-4.
- Maggie Oram (Lexington, Mass.) struck out a career-high 13 batters in seven innings to improve to 7-1 on the season.
- Gracie Hogan (Northbridge, Mass.) got the start in the circle for the Vikings and pitched four innings before Del Vecchio finished out the game.
WHAT'S NEXT
Endicott (16-4) hosts UNE for a CCC doubleheader on Saturday, April 13. The Gulls will honor their seniors prior to the first game at 12 PM. Salem State (11-15) hosts Westfield St. at 12 PM on Saturday, April 13.
