Hopgood, Somerville, and Misiaszek Sweep CCC Weekly Awards

BEVERLY, Mass. - Three Endicott softball student-athletes swept the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) weekly awards, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. Jamie Hopgood (Warwick, R.I.) was named the CCC Player of the Week, Laura Somerville (Suffield, Conn.) earned Pitcher of the Week honors, and Lauren Misiaszek (Londonderry, N.H.) was tabbed as the conference's Rookie of the Week.

Hopgood hit .393 (11-for-28) with two doubles, three home runs, nine RBI, and seven runs scored as the Gulls rolled to a 5-3 weekly record. In the process, Hopgood logged multiple hits in four games, including a three-hit effort against Bowdoin and a trio of two-hit performances versus Framingham State, Rutgers-Newark, and Trinity. While slugging an impressive .786 and posting a strong .438 on-base percentage, Hopgood drove in runs in seven different games, including two RBI effort against Framingham, Wesleyan, and Trinity.

Somerville posted a 2-0 weekly record with a 1.69 ERA over three starts. In 20-2/3 innings of work, Somerville posted wins over Framingham State and Rutgers-Newark and struck out 15 batters. Somerville's top performance came in the Gulls' 5-4, 12-inning victory over regional power Springfield, as she tossed 8-2/3 innings without surrendering an earned run.

Misiaszek hit safely in seven of nine games, batting .360 (9-for-25) with two doubles, seven RBI, two walks, and a stolen base. Misiaszek, who turned in three two-hit games, also drove in runs against five different opponents, with her most productive performance being a two-hit, two-RBI effort against Bowdoin. Defensively for the Gulls, Misiaszek successfully converted 29 of 30 chances in the field, good for a .967 fielding percentage at the busy shortstop position.

Endicott (7-3) is scheduled to host crosstown rival Gordon College in conference action on Friday, March 29 at 2 PM.
