Men's Cross Country Finishes 14th At NCAA Regionals; Lehmann Earns All-Region Honors

HOPKINTON, N.H. — The Endicott men's cross country team placed 14th overall out of 38 programs at the NCAA Division III East Regional Championship on Saturday afternoon.

MIT took top honors at the meet via a team score of 43 points.

Meanwhile, Tufts (61), WPI (128), Bowdoin (161), Bates (162), Babson (207), Colby (225), Suffolk (252), Keene St. (253), and Plymouth St. (334) rounded out the top-10.

As for the Gulls (412 points), Josh Lehmann (Gorham, Maine) highlighted the squad with a 29th place finish on the 8-kilometer course in 25:51. The 29th place finish is a program best and the senior was named a member of the USTFCCCA (United States Track & Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association) All-Region team for the second consecutive season.

Lehmann led the Gulls with his time and was followed by Dawson Romito (Boxford, Mass.)Caleb Nye (Hinesburg, Vt.), and Cooper Downey (Hudson, N.H.) who all finished within 10 seconds of each other. Romito finished with a time of 27:10, Nye was six seconds behind at 27:16, and then Downey was four seconds later at 27:20. Henry Bybee (Hampton, N.H.) round out Endicott's top-5 with a time of 29:40. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • The 14th place finish by the Gulls was an improvement from last year when they finished 16th.
  • Lehmann picked up 10 spots in the last 2k to earn All-Region, which was the most spots picked up in the final 2k out of anyone that earned All-Region.
