Gulls Win Endicott Invitational

ESSEX COUNTY, Mass. — The Gulls' men's cross country team finished first overall on Saturday morning in the third annual Endicott Invitational, held at Bradley Palmer State Park.

Endicott took top honors behind five top-10 finishes (25 points), while Gordon (38), Emerson (89), and Clark (112) followed in respective order.

Colin Costa (West Newbury, Mass.) led the way once again for the Gulls topping the field in 26:41.63 (8-kilometers).

Caleb Nye (Hinesburg, Vt.) claimed runner-up honors (26:45.33), while Cooper Downey (Hudson, N.H.), Shane Cataloni (Attleboro, Mass.), and Andrew Lauzon (North Andover, Mass.) rounded out Endicott's top-5 in fifth (27:27.63), eighth (28:18.56), and ninth (28:36.67).

"The men's race was another fun battle out there today. The first 8K of the season is always a tough one, but it was great for this young team to get that experience," said Endicott men's cross country head coach Spencer Lange. "I thought they looked very strong throughout and looked ready for the longer race distance. We're heading back to work for the next few weeks in preparation for the Bowdoin Invitational but encouraged by the progress we have seen so far.

  • Today's win marks the second time the Gulls have won the Endicott Invitational (2018 - 1st | 2019 - 3rd | 2021 - 1st).
  • The gap between Endicott's No. 1 and No. 5 runners was less than two minutes (1:55.04).
  • Endicott has defeated crosstown rival and conference foe Gordon College in two meets this season.
