Men's Soccer Announces 2017 Team Captains

Endicott Men's Soccer All-Time Captains

BEVERLY, Mass. — Endicott men's soccer head coach Joe Calabrese and his coaching staff are proud to announce that rising seniors Ryan Cohane (Easton, Conn.), Robert Hartan (Hebron, Conn.), and Carter Ocko (Danvers, Mass.) will serve the team as captains in 2017 as voted on by their peers.

"The team and coaching staff of Endicott men's soccer have great admiration for Ryan, Robby, and Carter. They'll guide and provide valuable insight into many of the major decisions made in our program," said Calabrese. "We'll lean heavily on these guys to help us establish our playing and training standards, our wins and losses expectations, and what our program should look like away from Hempstead Stadium."

The men's soccer team will have designated captains for the first time since the 2014 season.

"Each of them understand the value in leaving a lasting legacy on Endicott soccer. They understand we're a process-oriented club and know our greatest successes are a byproduct of all of us staying motivated to work hard year round," said Calabrese, heading into his seventh season at the helm.

Cohane, Hartan, and Ocko and possess academic, athletic, and service attributes that make them qualified to lead the next era of Endicott men's soccer under Coach Calabrese. In the classroom, these  stars on the pitch have been recognized for their academic excellence with numerous awards including Endicott College's Dean's List, Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Academic All-Conference (3.0 GPA+), and Endicott Varsity Club (3.50 GPA+) accolades all while entrenching themselves into workplace through internship experience, which is a focal point of the Endicott College education.

Through their hard work on the practice field and on game day, this trio of Cohane, Hartan, and Ocko have earned honors at the conference, regional, and national level. In the North Shore community and beyond, Endicott's tri-captains have made it a point to involve themselves and their teammates with organizations and individuals that need their assistance.

Below is an introduction to the 2017 Endicott men's soccer captains and their individual qualifications:

Ryan Cohane | Sr. | B | Easton, Conn.

Cohane, a first-time NSCAA All-New England Third Team honoree, also earned his first Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) All-CCC First Team distinction this season as he started all 20 matches for the Gulls. Cohane, also a CCC Defensive Player of the Week winner (09/19/16), recorded a career-high two goals and a career-high two assists this season, including his first career assist against Curry on 09/17/16. He currently ranks first in program history in career minutes played (6,087) and minutes played in a single-season (2155 in 2015). Cohane also ranks second all-time in career games started with 65 starts through three seasons of action and is tied in the single-season record books for first with 23 games played and 23 starts in 2015.

Cohane, a 2016 North Shore Invitational All-Tournament Team member, is an anchor of the Gulls' back line that registered a CCC-leading 11 shutouts in 2016 and allowed the fewest goals among all conference schools (13) during the regular season. Cohane is a 2016 Spring Dean's List and 2015 CCC Academic All-Conference honoree and transferred to Endicott in 2013 after spending a year at Indiana University Bloomington where he was a member of the Club Rugby team.

Robert Hartan | Sr. | M | Hebron, Conn.

Hartan, a first-time All-CCC First Team recipient, started 16 of 19 matches in the midfield in 2016. Hartan tallied five points (two goals, one assist), as both his goals were of the game-winning variety against UMass-Dartmouth (09/10/16) and Western New England (10/15/16), respectively. In his two seasons for the Gulls, Hartan has started 35 of 42 matches played and has three goals and two assists to his name. Hartan, a Spring 2016 Dean's List and 2015 CCC Academic All-Conference honoree, transferred to Endicott for the 2015 season after spending his freshman year at the University of Scranton.

Carter Ocko | Sr. | B | Danvers, Mass.

In two complete seasons for the Gulls, Ocko has earned the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Co-Defensive Player of the Year award (2015), in addition to being placed on the All-CCC First Team (2015). Ocko also collected National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division III All-New England Region First Team honors (2015) and was the program's first-ever NSCAA All-American as he earned a Third Team selection (2015). He was also named a 2015 Division III New England Men's Soccer First Team All-Star.

Ocko, a two-time Endicott Dean's List honoree, is a member of the Endicott Academic Varsity Club and 2015 CCC Academic All-Conference team. He also earned Sunshine State Conference Honor Roll while at the University of Tampa during his freshman year of college. While at Endicott, he has completed an internship with the Beverly Police Department.

Endicott (12-5-3) finished the 2016 season as the regular-season CCC champions to earn the No. 1 heading into the conference tournament before falling in the CCC Semifinals.  The Gulls have now won 12 or more games in each of the past three seasons and look to build upon this success heading into next year.
